Hyderabad police bust drug racket, Businessman held

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police arrested a businessman for allegedly possessing cocaine and MDMA for selling them during New Year parties.

Jhawar Kishan Gopal (27), a plastic businessman and a resident of Banjara Hills, slipped into severe financial trouble due to his betting addiction. His mounting debts and limited income from his plastic business left him struggling to cope, pushing him to seek easy ways to earn money, the police said.

As Gopal was unable to cope up with the rising debts, Gopal’s friends encouraged him to explore drug dealing as a quick way to resolve his financial troubles. Upon their advice, Gopal contacted a Nigerian national based in Mumbai, known to be a cocaine supplier.

He then traveled to Mumbai and purchased 30 grams of cocaine and MDMA. Gopal returned to the city and was planning to sell drugs during New Year’s parties in Hyderabad, targeting high-paying customers to make significant profits.

However, his plans were foiled when the Task Force sleuths intercepted him, seizing cocaine along with other materials. Thirty grams of cocaine worth Rs.7.50 lakh, half a dozen grams of MDMA worth Rs.72,000 and a mobile phone was seized from the possession of the arrested person.
