Hyderabad Police Crack Down on Influencers Filming at Stations
Hyderabad: With social media influencers filming in the premises of police stations and posting on social media platforms, police warned them not to do so and instructed the station staff to prevent such incidents.
The police have registered cases after some YouTubers posted videos of police station premises. In two incidents, police arrested influencers for posting such reels.
On Friday, the Uppal police booked three influencers for filming reels on the police station premises. The 23-second reel featured two persons, including a TV comedy actor. The third person shot the reel. As soon as the police took notice of the video, cases were booked. Uppal station house officer Election Reddy said the case was filed on the directions of Malkajgiri ACP S. Chakrapani. The ACP said strict action would be taken against those engaging in disruptive and unruly conduct towards law enforcement authorities.
In one instance, the police were shocked when a YouTuber told them that he uploaded a video of a police station to get more likes and comments. "Such posts violate the Police Act. That’s why we have arrested him," an officer said.
The Information Technology (IT) cell police officials also noticed several pictures, videos and other content in which the police were being abused and the department was being slandered. "A special team is closely monitoring the content on social media. In the latest incidents of miscreants posting reels, the police wrote to the social media sites to block such content and remove the videos," an IT wing official said.
In another incident, the Bandlaguda police arrested Syed Baba, Shaik Suleman and Mubarak Abdad for shooting a video and posting a reel on social media. The miscreants came to the police station to meet their friend who was arrested in a kidnap case and shot the video a few months ago.
