Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police on Tuesday arrested nine persons including seven ganja peddlers and seized eight kilograms of ganja from their possession. The accused peddlers who were found selling the contraband near James street railway station to two customers, were caught red handed. During interrogation, the prime accused Tamata Sanjay alias Tuna and his cousin Tamata Pavan alias Dambar, both rowdy sheeters of Marredpally police station, confessed that they were involved in several offences, Y V S Sudheendra, DCP, Task Force, said.
Sanjay planned to bring ganja from Araku, to sell it in Hyderabad to earn money easily. Sanjay revealed that he organized a meeting with his cousin Pavan and associates to smuggle ganja from AP into the city, Sudheendra said.
The accused peddlers cum sub-peddlers - Jwala Deepanshu Kumar alias Bad Boy, Dappu Kiran Kumar, Koguru Naveen Kumar alias Laddu alias Chintu, Muthu Krishna Rohith Kumar who financed smuggling, Marpu Joel Vanshika alias Smiley were smuggling ganja from Araku and selling the same to consumers - Thota Harshavardhan and Dasari Dikshit Sai Kumar alias Kanna and some other customers who have been arrested, DCP said. He said a NBW issued in connection with a burglary case in Bowenpally police station limits, was pending against Tamata Pavan.
