Hyderabad police step up night patrolling, traffic checks

Hyderabad: Police have tightened security measures in the city and ratcheted up night patrolling in the wake of multiple murder cases were reported in the city over last few days. Frisking and traffic checks have been stepped up in the twin city.

Police commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy visited Asifnagar police station and other police stations late Saturday night and checked the weapons at the police stations. He instructed officials to carry weapons with them during night patrolling, reliable sources said.

DCPs of seven different zones, the task force and SOT were instructed to stay alert during nights and it was decided to intensify police presence in the city after midnight.

Task force teams and law and order police and special branch (SB) will identify history-sheeters, habitual offenders, property offenders, drugs peddlers and shops serving liquor to customers during early hours violating rules. Four people were murdered in different cases within 24 hours.

Our first priority will be safety of women and young girls. Our narcotics bureau will focus on curbing drug menace, our SB and SOT teams in Rachakonda and Cyberabad and task force teams, special anti snatching teams, special SHE TEAM with CCTV cameras are constantly monitoring on the activities during nights, said a senior police official.

Similarly, traffic police in the city and Cyberabad have intensified checks on improper number plates, rash and negligent driving, drunken driving where as the TG narcotics bureau will deal with narco analyzers to detect NDPS cases, the police officer added.
