Hyderabad Police to Monitor Activities of History-Sheeters All Though the Year: Anand

Hyderabad: In a departure from the earlier trend whereby police used to bond over unsocial elements, history and history-sheeters prior to religious or political events, the department will now keep a tab on their movements 24x7 all through the year. This decision was taken at a high-level meeting that revolved around measures needed to maintain law and order in the twin cities.
This task has been entrusted to the seven zones, which have been provided with the latest technical equipment. They have been given full powers to act against unsocial elements, police sources disclosed.
“We have created a dossier listing out all the gangs, which are hired to settle scores in disputes. The task force can summon them regularly .We are counselling them to monitor activities of the rival groups after their release from prison. We have developed an excellent network of informants. We will take stern action against anti-social elements, who are involved in crimes”, city commissioner C. V. Anand told Deccan Chronicle here on Monday.
Around 200 officers across ranks, including 15 women, from the seven task force zones are constantly monitoring the activities of the hardcore elements, Anand said.
“We had an internal meeting in which our officials listed out the notorious characters category-wise. We will take every step to contain their activities and prevent untoward incidents”, said Ande Srinivasa Rao, additional DCP (Task Force).
“We also coordinate with prison authorities to keep track of the inmates and also their movements after their release,” Srinivasa said.
Meanwhile, special task force teams are conducting late night surprise raids on the houses of such elements, who will be dealt with if the police find anything suspicious.
