Hyderabad Remembers RBVRR on 155th Birthday

Hyderabad: The 155th birth anniversary of Raja Bahadur Venkatarama Reddy, the first Hindu Kotwal (commissioner) of Hyderabad State during the Nizam's rule, was celebrated with various events. Known for his contributions to education and philanthropy, Reddy established several institutions and hostels for students, leaving a lasting legacy.

At Raja Bahadur Venkatarama Reddy Women’s College in Barkatpura, cultural programmes and events were held. Dr Achyutha Devi Jammala, the principal, highlighted Reddy's dedication to education and society.

In Abids, at the RBVRR Hostel, the founder's statue was garlanded by board members and hostel residents. Teegala Mohan Reddy, secretary of the RBVRR Educational Society, praised Reddy's visionary efforts in providing education for the underprivileged. Prof. Surender Reddy pointed out that Reddy's initiatives in establishing schools and colleges that have benefited rural students.

At Narayanguda YMCA Crossroads, a ceremony was held where Hyderabad police commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy paid tribute at Venkataramana Reddy’s statue. The commissioner noted his efforts to eradicate social evils and promote girls' education. Gold medals and cash prizes were awarded to police officers, including Mir Chowk detective inspector Dilip Kumar and Cyberabad traffic inspector S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
