Hyderabad: Schoolgirl Dies in Road Mishap
Hyderabad: A lorry rammed into an autorickshaw and crushed it against an RTC bus, killing a Class X student and leaving the driver seriously injured, at about 8 am on Saturday. The accident occurred just 2 km from her school.
The deceased was identified as Ranga Saathvika, a student of Gowtham Model School in Habsiguda. The autorickshaw driver, Yellaiah, is in the intensive care unit of a hospital and is battling for life, police said.
According to Osmania University inspector Rajender, Saathvika left her residence in Tarnaka for school at around 7.30 am. At around 8 am, near the Habsiguda signal, the autorickshaw that was standing behind an RTC bus, waiting for the signal to turn green, was hit by a lorry. The impact pushed the autorickshaw under the rear of the bus.
The girl and the autorickshaw driver were seriously injured and were shifted to a private hospital in Nacharam for treatment. The girl died while being taken to the private hospital for treatment. Later, her body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.
The girl's parents, R. Gopinath, a private company employee, and Latha, who were in a state of shock, were not in a position to comment about the incident. Saathvika is also survived by two brothers.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a doctor from the forensic department at Gandhi Hospital, said, "The girl suffered injuries in the abdomen, chest and head due to the collision and might have died in a few minutes after the accident."
Lorry driver Suraj Singh, 22, was taken into custody after the incident. Police said the driver had a valid license and was not drunk. Police booked a case under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and began investigations.
