South Africa Firms Get Revanth Invite For Telangana Rising

Revanth Reddy explained that Hyderabad's robust educational and skill training ecosystem is serving as a backbone for creating a knowledge hub and a premier hub for engineering talent across IT, pharma, defence and aerospace sectors

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday invited South African industrialists and entrepreneurs to participate in the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2026, scheduled in December at Bharat Future City.

Highlighting Hyderabad’s education and skill-training ecosystem supporting sectors such as information technology, pharmaceuticals, defence and aerospace, Revanth Reddy said the city has emerged as a destination for Global Capability Centres of Fortune 500 companies and is gaining prominence as a medical tourism hub due to cost-effective healthcare facilities.

The invitation was extended during his meetings with a South African delegation led by deputy president Paul Mashatile. IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu and health minister C. Damodar Raja Narsimha attended the discussions. The talks focused on cooperation in education, skill development, medical tourism, investments, technology, startups and life sciences.

Referring to the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025, he said it attracted global leaders, diplomats and industry representatives and generated economic opportunities for the state. He urged South African businesses to participate in the 2026 summit and explore investments, particularly in the proposed 30,000-acre Bharat Future City near Hyderabad’s international airport.

Paul Mashatile said India and South Africa share historical and cultural ties. He noted that South Africa offers Indian companies access to African markets through the African Continental Free Trade Area and called for greater collaboration, including in pharmaceuticals.

During a separate meeting with a German delegation led by Mario Voigt, the minister-president of the German state of Thuringia, the Chief Minister called for redesigning skill-development programmes to meet workforce requirements in countries such as Germany, Japan and South Korea, particularly in the context of artificial intelligence.

He sought support for strengthening curricula at Young India Skills University, Advanced Technology Centres and polytechnics, and proposed a German-language training hub in Hyderabad.

Telangana and Thuringia signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in technology, skill training, startups and life sciences. Voigt described Telangana as a centre of innovation and expressed partnership interest.

Voigt said Thuringia’s industry and academic institutions could work with Telangana on demand-driven skill programmes and proposed a visit by German semiconductor companies to explore investments.

Sridhar Babu welcomed the proposal, citing Hyderabad’s semiconductor ecosystem and manufacturing plans. Labour minister Vivek Venkataswamy said the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company is progressing in German-language training and workforce preparation.

Senior officials and business leaders from optics, photonics, precision engineering, life sciences, MedTech, defence and aerospace sectors attended the meetings.
