Hyderabad: Shoddy City Beautification Works for 1st Anniversary

Hyderabad: Ahead of the nine-day Praja Palana-Praja Vijayotsavalu between December 1 and 9, the GHMC has resorted to shoddy works to meet the deadline.

The installation of a fountain and artworks at the junction near Shilparamam, another junction beautification works at Telugu Talli flyover,

painting of tree trunks with emulsion paints in Begumpet and works at NFCL Junction are a few examples where works were shoddy, according to commuters and passers-by.

For instance, the sculptures of lions around the fountain at the junction near Shilparamam are not aesthetic, said a commuter. He also pointed out that another art installation replicating a hand at the same junction is like a replica of the existing pylon at Nanalnagar and also not appealing. The GHMC has taken up city beautification works worth Rs 149.84 crore in different parts of the city, which also includes painting of flyovers and installation of artworks at junctions. So far, 15 works have been completed, and 209 are under various stages of execution.
