Hyderabad: ‘Blue’ the pet husky that was badly beaten on May 14 in Rahmatnagar, along with its owner, has been getting overwhelming support from pet lovers and social media activists. The husky is a Siberian breed with fur and blue eyes.
Reacting to the video of the untoward incident in which ‘Blue’ and its owner were attacked brutally by their neighbour, many pet lovers and animal activists got together and coined a campaign called ‘Blue’. They invited likeminded people to join them. On Monday the supporters took out a peaceful rally carrying placards in the residential colony where the incident took place.
Nimmaturi Srinath, owner of the pet, said, “So many people are standing with us and to show the cruel face of those who attacked us. The concern that the people having towards the pet dogs and their owners which is inexplicable. Those who are involved in this cruel act are being sent to 14-day remand. We demand more severe punishment.”
Stella Maris, animal activist, who is part of the campaign, said, “Our campaign has been getting good response. We are asking people to come to the victim’s place between 11 am and 4 pm. This is to show solidarity and expose acts of cruelty against animals.”
