Hyderabad to Celebrate Raj Kapoor's 100th Birth Anniversary with a Musical Evening

Hyderabad: Music enthusiasts will gather on Saturday to pay tribute to the legendary film-maker and actor Raj Kapoor, on his 100 birth anniversary. The initiative was taken by the Gujarati Social Welfare Association, which is conducting a musical evening at Ravindra Bharati in collaboration with the state department of language and culture.

Lead singer at the event, Samson Mukesh, said, “Raj Kapoor’s movies are relished whenever they are telecast and the people play his popular numbers. Along with Surekha, Ratna Mukerji and Aiziz, I have rendered 90 songs of Raj Kapoor. Hyderabad has always been a great place to perform. I am sure Raj Kapoor's songs will take Hyderabadis on a nostalgic trip.”

Gujarati Social Welfare Association president Jignesh Doshi said, “Raj Kapoor’s movies were always with a social message and gave us moral insights. Lakhs of people in the city are fans of the songs of his films. People can walk in with the families and have a great time.”
