Hyderabad's Tims hospitals get year-end deadline
Hyderabad: Three new hospitals under Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Tims) will begin operations in Hyderabad's Sanathnagar, LB Nagar and Alwal by the end of 2025, minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said on Monday.
Komatireddy was speaking after reviewing the progress of works at the Alwal hospital which is being built with an estimated budget of ₹897 crore over 11.53 lakh square feet.
The Alwal project, constructed by DEC Infrastructure and designed by Arcop Consultants, is 90 per cent complete. It will include 24 operation theatres and services from 35 departments.
During his inspection, the minister pointed out the absence of dharmashalas (rest houses) for patient attendants in the construction site, which is included in the projects of Sanathnagar and LB Nagar.
Pointing to delays caused by poor coordination among departments and changes in designs made during the previous BRS government, Komatireddy directed the contractors to ensure quality and timely completion.
The hospital, designed to function as a non-profit organisation, aims to ease the burden on public hospitals like Osmania and Gandhi. Special attention is being given to departments like oncology, nuclear medicine, and emergency wards.
The hospital construction is being designed to follow the green-mat standards as per the recommendations of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Venkat Reddy also pointed out that the government had raised the Aarogyasri health insurance limit from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh to reduce reliance on private hospitals. Over ₹1,600 crore was allocated to the scheme in the last year.
