HYDRA Demolishes Illegal Constructions at Erla Cheruvu Lake
Hyderabad: Continuing its crackdown against illegal constructions at Erla Cheruvu in Madeenaguda for the second consecutive day, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) team, amid police protection, demolished three multistoried buildings in the buffer zone of the lake on Sunday.
All the structures were built on land measuring 267 square yards. While two of them were built in a G+4 pattern, one was a G+3 structure.
“All of them were under construction and the plan was to later sell them as lake view villas,” said an official from HYDRA. He also said that there are other structures in the buffer zone that have already been occupied.
“Action will be initiated even on those structures,” the official said.
The GHMC took up the rejuvenation of this lake in 2022. As part of the task, the Nala was revamped with Rs 10.3 crore under the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP).
Meanwhile, HYDRA officials confirmed that the demolition activity at Bum-Rukn-ud-Dowla lake in Shivrampally near Kings Colony (Shastripuram) was completed on Saturday.
