HYDRAA clears Filmnagar road
Hyderabad: HYDRAA resumed its anti-encroachment drive on Saturday after a month-long break, demolishing unauthorised structures built on public roads in Filmnagar.
HYDRAA said it was acting on complaints by residents on buildings and boundary walls encroaching the main road connecting Filmnagar to other key areas. A HYDRAA team, along with GHMC officials, inspected the area and found that two structures, a tin shed and a boundary wall of a residential building, had encroached on to the road.
The tin shed and the house’s boundary wall, which extended onto the road, was razed to the ground using earthmovers and power tools. HYDRAA also cleared debris from the site to ensure smooth flow of traffic and to facilitate road widening.
HYDRAA commissioner A. V. Ranganath coordinated with GHMC’s Khairatabad zonal commissioner Anurag Jayanti and requested him to initiate road construction in the cleared area, and work is expected to begin within two days.
Local residents, who had been dealing with traffic disruptions due to encroachments for nearly 15 years, welcomed the move.
