Hyderabad: Since its inception, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has demolished 166 encroachments at 18 locations and saved 43.94 acres of government land. A detailed report pertaining to the demolitions has also been sent to the state government.
Some of the encroachments that were cleared by its teams included 0.16 acre in Filmnagar Co-operative Society, Plot No. 30 (Lotus Pond), 0.06 acre land in Plot No. 315, MP MLA Colony (Vijaya Cooperative Housing Society) in Jubilee Hills Road No. 10C and 1.04 acres in Mithilanagar, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills.
The HYDRAA report named some encroachers, including Ratnakaram Sai Raju, a local BRS leader, who encroached 3.5 acres of Chintal lake by erecting temporary sheds that have since been demolished.
The name of Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender was mentioned in the report’s remarks column. He had supported the encroachers who demolished that compound wall of a park land in Nandagiri Hills.
Other names that have been mentioned include AIMIM’s Bahadurpura MLA Mohammed Mubeen and MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig. Their names were mentioned along with details of encroachment removed on the Bum-Rukn-ud-Dowla lake. The MLA's G+5 floors structure and the MLC's G+2 floor structure were razed. Approximately, 45 encroachments were removed and 12 acres recovered at this lake.
The other names mentioned include, Pallam Anand, brother of M.M. Pallam Raju of Congress. ORO Sports, belonging to Anand, was demolished as it encroached on the Gandipet lake. In addition to them, the name of Kaveri Seeds owner and former TTD member G.V. Bhasker Rao's structure at Osmansagar was also demolished.
At Osmansagar, structures of Suniul Reddy, BJP leader from Manthani, and that of Anupama, wife of Srinivas Rao (a Pro Kabaddi team owner) were demolished. The name of actor Nagarjuna Akkineni was also mentioned in the report citing that the N-Convention centre in Madhapur was also demolished.
What HYDRAA saved
The HYDRAA in its report submitted to the government listed the following actions, indicated that it had saved over 26 acres:
Chinthal cheruvu, Gajularamaram: 54 encroachments removed, 3.5 acre saved.
Bum-Rukn-ud-Dowla Lake near Shivrampally: 54 encroachments removed, 12 acre saved.
Nandagiri Hills, Road 69, Jubilee Hills: 16 encroachments removed, 0.18 acre park saved.
Osmansagar (towards Chikur): 10 encroachments removed, 6.5 acre saved.
Osmansagar (towards Khanapur): 14 encroachments removed, 8.75 acre saved.
