Hyderabad:The immersion of Ganesh idols began in the city and suburbs on Wednesday night on the fifth day of the festivities. Youth and colony welfare associations organised colourful processions, dancing to drum beats as they transported idols to various lakes, including Safilguda, Saroornagar, and NTR Ghat, for immersion.
Larger idols were moved using customised vehicles, while civic officials provided cranes at lakes to facilitate the process. Elaborate security and lighting arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the immersions. Boats, swimmers, and emergency teams were also deployed at major lakes for safety.
As many as 100 static and 150 mobile cranes at 50 baby ponds and 20 major lakes were arranged for the immersion.
