Implementation of Welfare Schemes: CM Puts Onus on District Collectors

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday made it clear that welfare of the poor and development of the state are like the two eyes of the state government. Keeping this in mind, district collectors should actively mingle with the people to know their issues at the ground level rather than sit in their respective offices, he said.

Reddy said that the responsibility of instilling trust in the government lay with the district collectors, who are the real representatives of the government.

Addressing a meeting of collectors at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister revealed that he will be touring districts after January 26. He warned of surprise inspections and strict action wherever negligence is found in the government system. He instructed the collectors to alert the field-level officers, accordingly.

"It is the collectors who take all the programmes and schemes implemented by the government to the people and their performance is the measure of the government's performance. They should continue to improve their performance levels. Women IPS and IAS officers must visit girls' hostels at least once a month," he said.

Implementation of Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa, ration cards, Indiramma Indlu schemes, collection of details for the schemes, and preparing lists of beneficiaries were mainly discussed in the meeting.

Reddy announced that to commemorate the Republic Day and 75 years of the Constitution, the state government will launch four prestigious schemes on the same day.

In addition to increasing the Rythu Bharosa benefit to Rs 12,000 per acre, the Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa that provides cash assistance of Rs 12,000 to landless labourer families, will be implemented, he said. Apart from starting distribution of new ration cards, Indiramma houses will be sanctioned to the poor who do not have their own houses, he said.

The Chief Minister suggested that ward assemblies should be held in all villages for the effective implementation of these schemes.

He said that nodal officers should be appointed for each district and each mandal. He said that officers should make field-level visits, especially to trace and wean out people who are ineligible for getting the benefits.
