Indira Dairy to be set up in Khammam
Khammam: Collector Muzammil Khan on Thursday said that an Indira Dairy unit would be set up in the district with a milk processing capacity of three lakh litres.
He said loans would be provided to the members of Indira Dairy Cooperative Society through different corporations for purchase of buffaloes. He asked the officials to prepare a plan for production, processing and marketing of milk.
Khan was speaking while reviewing the groundwork for setting up of the Indira Dairy unit in the district collectorate.
He instructed officials to set up eight to 10 milk procurement centres in Madhira Assembly constituency. Officials were told to identify buildings for setting up milk chilling centres for 4,000-5,000 litres of milk.
He said 40,000 members of the Indira Dairy Cooperative Society, who were members of self help groups (SHGs), should be categorised into SCs, STs, BCs and OCs based to provide loans through finance corporations for the purchase of buffaloes.
The members, who had sheds and land for growing the fodder, should be accorded priority in grounding the units of buffalos.
Indira Dairy is aimed at transforming 40,000 members of SHGs in the Madhira Assembly constituency into dairy entrepreneurs.
