Indiramma Illu: Housing Corp to Use GPS to Prevent Misuse

Hyderabad: The Telangana Housing Corporation will use GPS technology to ensure that Indiramma Illu programme houses will be built at the specified sites.
The Rs 5 lakh Indiramma housing assistance will be released to the beneficiary in stages as per the construction update by photographs posted by the village secretary online.
In line with the oft-repeated assertion of housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, the most vulnerable categories like widows, single women, safai karamcharis, disabled, agriculture labour, flood and fire victims would get priority while identifying the beneficiaries. Dalits will get primacy in the process.
Of the 80 lakh applicants, 3,500 will be selected in each of the 119 Assembly constituencies. The names of the beneficiaries will be announced on January 26.
The data taken during the Praja Palana will be used to select those who will get houses in the next four years. The minister has said that in the second phase, those who don’t have land will also be considered for the scheme, which is to have a central component, though the share remains undecided.
Officials said that model houses are coming up in the mandal headquarters in MRO or MPDOs office to exhibit the financial feasibility of their construction on a Rs 5-lakh budget. The parameters are the same for beneficiaries across constituencies in urban or rural areas.
