Infighting in Patancheru Congress resolved

Hyderabad:Differences between two Congress factions in the Patancheru Assembly constituency have been amicably resolved. Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy, who defected from the BRS to Congress in July last year, has agreed to display the pictures of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, and TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud in his camp office.

He also agreed to adhere to the Congress’ directives and avoid actions that could harm the reputation of the party and the state government.

The TPCC had last week constituted a two-member committee to address the ongoing discord among Congress leaders in the constituency. The committee, comprising TPCC vice-president M.R.G. Vinod Reddy and government Whip Adi Srinivas, was formed after tensions escalated between supporters of Congress leader Kata Srinivas Goud and MLA Mahipal Reddy.

The conflict was triggered by Mahipal Reddy's decision to continue displaying the picture of BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao in his office while omitting those of top Congress leaders. Kata Srinivas’s supporters vandalised the MLA’s camp office.

Kata Srinivas met the TPCC committee at Gandhi Bhavan on January 27 and provided his account of the events leading to the confrontation with the MLA. On Thursday, Mahipal Reddy met TPCC committee at Vinod Reddy’s residence in Himayathnagar and presented his explanation.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Mahipal Reddy expressed his willingness to work cohesively with all Congress leaders and activists. He assured that he would follow the party’s official stance and display the pictures of senior Congress leaders in his office.

Vinod Reddy stated that the dispute has been settled and that the committee will submit its report to the TPCC in two days.
