Initiate strict measures to check spread of dengue, MA&UD principal secretary directs officials

Hyderabad: In the wake of the increasing cases of dengue in GHMC limits, MA&UD principal secretary Dana Kishore urged the officials to initiate proper measures to check the spread of the disease.

Dana Kishore directed the officials to take strict measures to check the spread of vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, chikungunya which spread through mosquito bite.

He asked the zonal commissioners to check all the dengue positive cases and visit all the medical centres and primary health centres (PHCs) and at the same time, review all the cases with the DC, SEs and AEs.

Awareness programmes on checking dengue cases should be held at all hostels of colleges and schools run by the state government, he said.

The principal secretary asked t he officials to take up fogging programme from 6 pm to 9 pm at all the slum areas and places where the cases are swelling by the day.

He also suggested that senior entomologists and assistant entomologists should recheck the conditions in 5-6 places on a daily basis.

He also directed officials to conduct Dengue Elisa Test within 4-5 days of identifying contracting the disease.

He directed the GHMC officials, district collectors, zonal and deputy commissioners, chief medical officers, senior entomologists, AMHOs, tahsildars, assistant entomologists on the necessary action to be taken up on identification of dengue positive cases.

The following measures have been taken up in GHMC limits

Special measures have been taken up to prevent the spread of dengue cases, since the onset of monsoon till now.

Anti-larval operations have been taken up in 27,608 places, including 9680 locked houses, 767 function halls, 6157 open places, 4635 cellars, 6370 construction sites, 3045 schools, 427 colleges and 55 hostels.

Fogging has been done under Pinpoint programme in slum areas where positive cases were registered.

Fridays have been observed as Dry Days in 4846 colonies.

Awareness programmes on vector-borne diseases have been held in association with Residential Associations and representatives of various colonies.

Over 2751 students were identified as volunteers and anti-dengue programmes were held with their association.
