Injured Asha worker slaps Inspector for taking into preventive custody

Hyderabad: A video of an Asha worker slapping Sultan Bazaar Inspector Srinivas Chary while taking into preventive custody in Koti on Monday went viral on social media platforms.

A large number of Asha workers assembled in front of the office of DME in Koti demanding that the State government increase their salary up to Rs.18,000 as promised during the Assembly elections in the State last year.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy promised to hike the salary of Asha workers up to Rs.18,000 during elections but nothing concrete has been done till date to implement it. Enraged over this, irate Asha workers came to Koti to stage a protest demanding that the State government increase their salary.

When the police took the protesters into custody and bundled them in a van, one of the woman’s legs got stuck in the tail door and as a result she started screaming and in the melee she slapped the Inspector for hurting her.

On seeing this, another police officer, along with other women police constables, who were at the spot, started hitting her and one constable captured the image of the woman in her smart phone. The Inspector moved away from the van after the incident.
