Intuc chief urges Bhatti to regularise 6,500 contract staff in power sector

Hyderabad: All-India Indian Trade Union Congress president Dr Sanjeeva Reddy met Deputy Chief Minister and minister for power Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka along with the representatives of the Telangana Electricity Employees’ Union – 327and discussed the problems being faced by the power sector employees, including promotion and regularisation of artisans. He also asked the government to provide equal pay to the ‘CBD Gang Employees’ working in Transco on par with the salary being provided to high-skilled employees.

Sanjeeva Reddy demanded that the state government to regularise 6,500 employees working as contract workers and treat them on par with the government employees working in the power sector and provide an old pension scheme that existed before 2004.
General secretary E. Sridhar said that the Deputy Chief Minister had responded positively to their demands and asked them to meet the Transco chairman and managing director for the redressal of their issues.
