Issue new ration cards immediately in election code-free districts, says Revanth

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to begin issuing new ration cards immediately in districts, where the model code of conduct for the MLC election is not in effect. He also instructed them to make all arrangements for issuing ration cards in the remaining districts once the election code is lifted.
During a review meeting on Monday, held to finalise the modalities for issuing new ration cards across the state, the CM, along with civil supplies minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, stressed the need for swift processing of applications received through gram sabhas, the caste survey, and Mee Seva centres.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over the increasing crowds at Mee Seva centres to submit applications for ration cards despite the state government undertaking multiple rounds of application collection since December 2023.
Officials informed him that many families have been submitting applications repeatedly, leading to the rush. He also pointed out that this situation could have been avoided if the ration cards were issued promptly and urged officials to expedite the process.
He appealed to families, who have already submitted their applications, to refrain from visiting Mee Seva centres unnecessarily. The Chief Minister assured that new ration cards would be issued across all districts once the election code is lifted. During the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed several design proposals for the new ration cards prepared by the civil supplies department.
