Jeedimetla police nab killer of homeless woman
Hyderabad: Jeedimetla police arrested the accused living on the footpath near the Chinthal bus stop for allegedly brutally killing a homeless woman. The incident occurred during the late night hours of December 10 when the victim denied the accused’s sexual advances.
According to the police, the killer is identified as Gajjala Naresh, 31, and is originally from Gajula Kotrika village in Karnataka. He moved to Hyderabad after his mother died. Living alone on the streets of Chinthal and Jeedimetla, he took up work as a daily laborer. He eventually became an addict of alcohol, ganja and other inhalants. He became a petty thief to support his habits.
The victim Padma, 45, was a homeless woman residing near Qutbullapur Signal. She was making a living out of begging. A few days before the murder, Naresh made sexual advances towards her but Padma rejected him. Enraged by the rejection, Naresh developed a grudge against her. On December 10 night, Naresh approached Padma, who was found sleeping on the footpath near HMT Gate, again and demanded sexual favors once again. When she refused and scolded him, Naresh turned violent. He covered her face with a blanket and struck her head with a cement brick, killing her instantly. He then attempted to assault her but fled when he realised she was dead.
Jeedimetla police filed a case and swiftly launched an investigation. The police also discovered that Naresh has a criminal history including assault and theft. Some of his pretty crime incidents occurred in the same police station limits. Naresh was apprehended and he confessed to his crime. He was remanded and then sent to judicial custody.
