According to police, M. Ramchander murdered G. Vaishnavi Teja just 100 metres from her house in public. Vaishnavi was working at SVKR School in Polepally Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Jadcherla town as a receptionist.

“The attack took place when the woman was getting out of an autorickshaw after completing her work and was about to reach her home in a couple of minutes. The accused attacked the woman with a knife. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead,” the police said.

In a video recorded by locals, Ramchander was seen telling the villagers, who confronted him after the murder, that he and Vaishnavi were in a relationship for a couple of years, and accusing her of taking money from him. He alleged that she not only refused to return his money but also started avoiding him.

Following the incident, the villagers detained Ramchander and beat him badly. He was taken to the Mahbubnagar district government hospital where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment late at night, police said.
Before he died, the Jadcherla police registered a murder case against Ramchander. Police also booked a case against the villagers for attacking Ramchander. The case is under investigation.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mahbubnagar deputy superintendent of police (DSP), P. Vekateswarlu said Ramchander died at around 11 pm on Saturday in the mob attack. The DSP said the villagers chased Ramchander for over 400 metres, caught hold of him. tied his hands and legs and assaulted him.

“We preserved the murder accused’s body at the Government Hospital in Mahbubnagar,” he said, expressing confidence that the police would try to collect more details about the victim using her call data records (CDR).
