Justice Nanda pronounces 76 judgments in a single day
Hyderabad: Justice Surepalli Nanda of the Telangana High Court created a record of sorts by pronouncing separate judgments in 76 cases on a single day. The unique milestone was achieved on Monday, the day the High Court reopened after the summer vacation. All judgments were pronounced in the open court.
All these cases were heard by Justice Nanda before the summer vacation and had reserved the orders.
The 76 cases are from the years 2009 to 2024 and mostly pertained to service, registration, electricity and land, among others.
It may be recalled that even last year, Justice Nanda had pronounced 71 judgments on the very day the High Court reopened after the summer vacation.
The advocate community viewed that such efforts underscore the efficiency and dedication required to manage and adjudicate such a high volume of cases within a limited time. It often involves extensive preparation, thorough understanding of the legal issues at hand, and a streamlined process for delivering judgments. This achievement can be significant in reducing the backlog and expedite judicial proceedings.
