Kalasagaram Hosts Fete Celebrating Classical Arts in Secunderabad
Kalasagaram, a cultural association known for its dedication to music, dance, and drama, is hosting its 57th annual festival from November 30 to December 9 at Keyes High School, Secunderabad. The event will celebrate the classical arts with a series of performances by acclaimed musicians, dancers, and playwrights.
This year, the association will confer the Sangeet Kalasagara title on D. Srinivas, a master veena player, and Dr Dwaram Satyanarayana Rao, violinist, for their contribution to the field of classical music.
A performance by the Raga Sisters is listed on December 2. Other notable concerts include Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath on December 3 and N.J. Nandhini on December 4.
On December 5, Alekya Punjala, chairperson of the Telangana Sangeet Natak Academy, will present a dance ballet. Indian Idol judge and classical singer Bharat Sundar will take the stage on December 6.
The festival will also feature two Tamil plays, ‘Nidharsanam’ and ‘Edho Endhan Devivam’, both written by playwright Kudanthai Mali. These dramas are scheduled for the weekend.
The festival will conclude with a jugalbandi by Carnatic vocalist Abhishek Raghuram and Hindustani flautist Pravin Godkhindi on December 9.
