Two buses carrying ballot boxes collide

At least 20 people were injured when the bus collided with another bus from behind.

Karimnagar: Two RTC buses carrying ballot boxes collided early on Friday in the Namilikonda area of Kodimyala Mandal, Jagtial district, after the lead bus driver abruptly applied brakes at a speed breaker. The buses transporting election materials and staff following the MLC elections in Nirmal district, were en route to Karimnagar.

Around 30 election staff were on board when the collision occurred. The driver of the following bus, identified as Moinuddin, sustained injuries and was rushed to Karimnagar Government Hospital, while another staff member received minor injuries. No other casualties were reported.

Vote counting for the Graduates’ and Teachers’ MLC elections in Karimnagar and Nalgonda districts is scheduled to begin on March 3, with the process expected to take up to 72 hours for the Graduates’ constituency and 36 hours for the Teachers’ constituency.
