Karimnagar police arrest BRS MLA Koushik Reddy

Karimnagar:BRS MLA from Huzurabad, Padi Koushik Reddy, was arrested by Karimnagar police on Monday in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, following four separate complaints filed by Jagtial MLA Dr. S. Sanjay Kumar, his personal assistant K. Vinod Kumar, RDO K. Maheshwar, and District Libraries Chairman S. Mallesham. They alleged that Koushik Reddy used derogatory language and threatened them during public discussions on developmental issues.

Acting under ACP N. Venkat Swamy’s supervision, two police teams—comprising two Circle Inspectors, four Sub-Inspectors, and six constables—took Koushik Reddy into custody and transported him to Karimnagar in four vehicles.

In a related matter, Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar received a complaint from MLA Sanjay Kumar, claiming that Koushik Reddy hurled inappropriate comments at him. Separately, the BRS legislator faced further criticism after allegedly making controversial remarks about Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over increased ticket prices for the film Game Changer. Additional complaints, led by Congress leader Singireddy Bhaskar Reddy, were lodged at Karimnagar III-Town police station, bringing the total cases against Koushik Reddy to five.

Political observers note that Koushik Reddy’s behavior has become a contentious topic within the party, potentially affecting his future prospects. BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao condemned the arrest, accusing CM Revanth Reddy of targeting BRS leaders to divert public attention and suppress dissent. “Such arrests will not deter us from standing up for people,” he asserted.
