KCR and kin distorted Telangana history with false narrative: Revanth
CM releases Devender Goud’s ‘Vijaya Telangana’

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy ridiculed the distorted historical narrative of Telangana, claiming that certain leaders had tried to manipulate the state’s history suiting their whims and fancies for their own benefit.
“Sacrifices made by students and youth during the Telangana statehood movement must be included in the history,” he said.
Reddy alleged that former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family members sought to rewrite Telangana’s history, creating a false narrative that one person, one family, and one political party were the only representatives of Telangana and its statehood movement.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering after releasing ‘Vijaya Telangana’, a book authored by veteran leader T. Devender Goud, acknowledging the sacrifices made by those who played a key role in the Telangana movement.
Stating that Goud was one of the leaders he respects, Reddy said that ‘Vijaya Telangana’ presents the history of the Telangana movement from the people’s perspective.
“Goud’s decision to launch a political party for the cause of Telangana was a courageous move,” said Reddy. He said that Goud had “sacrificed a good life and came out with the Telangana flag.”
The Chief Minister went on to highlight Goud’s impactful padayatra, during which he called for utilisation of Godavari waters. He recalled that the Pranahita-Chevella project was taken up by the then rulers in undivided Andhra Pradesh after Goud’s padayatra, acknowledging the significant role it played in the development of the state.
“In those days, the youth not only wrote TG on their vehicles, but also on their hearts. Devender Goud was the one who wrote TG on the walls during the movement,” said Reddy.
He credited the Congress government for adopting the aspirations of the people by changing the state's abbreviation from TS to TG and introducing the 'Jaya Jayahe Telangana' song as the official state anthem.
He added, “The absence of leaders like Devender Goud in active politics is an irreparable loss for the state. Leaders who uphold values should join the political landscape of Telangana.”
