KCR celebrates 71st birthday

Hyderabad: The best birthday gift that the BRS leaders and workers can give former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao who on Monday celebrated his 71st birthday, is that “all 60 lakh members of the party work unitedly with one goal, that of bringing him back as the Chief Minister again. This will be the best birthday gift we can give him,” BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has said.
Rama Rao, addressing grand celebrations of Chandrashekar Rao’s birthday at Telangana Bhavan, said: “My father KCR is not just a hero to me. He is the hero for the entire Telangana. He is the man who freed Telangana from the grip of looters in unified Andhra Pradesh. There is no second opinion on this and there is a visibly strong desire among people to see him back at the helm.”
While the party organised various events and celebrations across the state to mark the day, Chandrashekar Rao, accompanied by his wife Shobha Rao, attended a yagam organised by Erravalli villagers seeking divine blessings for their leader. He spent the rest of the day at his farm house in Erravalli which was thronged by party leaders, workers, and well-wishers who lined up to greet him on his birthday.
Among those who met with Chandrashekar Rao were Rama Rao, nephew T Harish Rao, daughter K Kavitha, party MPs, MLAs, former ministers, were among those who called on Chandrashekar Rao at his farmhouse and greeted him on his birthday.
Earlier, speaking at the celebrations organised by former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav at Telangana Bhavan, where a huge cake was cut to mark the former chief minister’s birthday, Harish Rao said “with each passing day, the clamour to see KCR back as the Chief Minister is increasing. People come up to us at traffic junctions, and tell us that they are unhappy and cannot wait for Chandrashekhar Rao to be back in power.”
“Chandrashekhar Rao knows how to play defence, and how to hit the ball for a six. He knows how to play the right stroke at the right time. And as a leader who made the state of Telangana possible, he has the well-being of its people at his heart,” he said.
Following Monday’s high gear celebrations, the party is hoping it can keep the momentum among its cadre going, which it expects will receive a further boost on Wednesday when Chandrashekar Rao will chair a meeting of all senior party leaders and BRS’ extended executive where he is expected to provide directions on future action programmes of the party.
