KCR, KTR, Harish Rao mortgaged BRS MLAs self-respect to BJP, says Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy here on Wednesday alleged that the BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) and his son KT Rama Rao and son-in-law T Harish Rao mortgaged the self-respect of BRS MLAs to BJP and ensured the saffron party candidates victory in Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a press conference, he said KCR resorted to political anarchy by indulging in cross voting and contributing to the victory of BJP MP candidates. Of the total 17 MP seats, the BJP and Congress won eight each MP seats in Telangana while MIM won one seat. The BRS did not secure a single seat and lost deposit in seven seats.
This would indicate that the BRS indirectly supported BJP in the elections, he said, adding that the BRS was reduced to ashes after the election results and it would not regain its glory. The voters taught a fitting lesson to the BRS for criticizing Congress on various issues in the last 100 days.
In spite of indulging in conspiracy, the voters did not believe in BRS and supported Congress, he said, advising the BRS leaders to mend their ways in the wake of drubbing the elections. The BJP got 13 per cent vote share in 2023 Assembly elections and it has now gone up to 35.5 per cent vote share, he said.
The Congress vote share was 39.5 per cent in the Assembly elections in 2023 and it has now gone up to 41 per cent indicating that the people maintained faith in the Congress government. Reddy said, stating that the Lok Sabha elections were a referendum to the 100-day rule of Congress in the State.
The BJP contested elections with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantee. As against 303 seats secured in 2019 elections, the party has now 243 seats in 2024 elections, he added.
