KCR Slams Telangana Talli Statue Change, Urges Public Meeting
Hyderabad: BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao bitterly criticised changing of the Telangana Talli statue, calling it “sheer idiocy.” He said the BRS had given time to the Congress to perform, and its failures would not be pardoned by the people.
Party sources indicated that it was mulling holding a public meeting in February to highlight the alleged failures of the government.
Speaking on the invitation extended to him for the unveiling of the Telangana Talli statue, Rao said that he had welcomed the delegation as per Telangana traditions. He said attempts to efface his legacy were meaningless, and claimed credit for the Yadadri power plant that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy inaugurated on Saturday/
He made the remarks at a meeting of the party MLAs, MLCs at his farmhouse ahead of Monday’s Assembly session. Rao underscored the historical underpinnings behind the statue to represent the Telangana agitation. He said that the figurative representation was evolved by intellectuals and poets like Dasarathi and Ravela Venkatarama Rao, He wondered why settled matters were being raked up, instead of addressing pressing issues.
The BRS chief asked party legislators to be prepared for the session and draw the attention of the government to people’s problems. They should raise questions on issues like Rythu Bandhu. “We should show how Telangana Talli was central to the statehood agitation,” Rao said. “The government has failed on all fronts.”
He further asked the MLAs to bring attention to issues like Musi, HYDRAA, gurukul schools and failure on the education front. The high handed nature of the Congress rule should be exposed. The Congress manifesto should be shown to expose the government.
The party committees will be formed after February which will be followed by a membership drive, he said.
Addressing the media after the meeting, party working president K.T. Rama Rao said, “KCR has directed us to expose the government in the Assembly as the voice of the people.”
