Kisan Morcha calls for saving life of Dallewal

Hyderabad:The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has called for protests with a charter of demands including saving the life of farmers’ union leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal and withdrawing the draft of new national agriculture marketing policy. The protests will be held from January 13 to 21 and culminate in a rally with tractors, vehicles, motorcycles on the 76 republic day on January 26.

In a release, the farmers' body sought a law guaranteeing minimum support price with 50 per cent additional support, a law to relieve farmers and agriculture workers from the loans, stop privatisation of power and not to set up smart meters for agriculture, supply 300 units of free power for households and implementation of the 2013 Land Acquisition Act.

It called for burning of the draft new national agriculture marketing policy in protests from January 13 to 21. The SKM flayed the centre for its abstinence and refusing to talk with the farmers. The Supreme Court and the

President it said should intervene to save the life of the farm leader and address the genuine demands of the farmers.

It blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government for taking decisions in the interest of the corporate companies instead of guarding farmer’s interests.

SKM state conveners Pasya Padma, T. Sagar, Prabhakar, Nagi Reddy and Jakkula Venkatayya requested the Centre for facilitating the companies in having a strong hold over the agriculture sector.
