Kishan Reddy launches 100 days intensive TB campaign in 9 Telangana districts

Hyderabad: BJP state president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy launched the 100-day Tuberculosis Mukht Abhiyan at the State TB Hospital, Erragadda, on Saturday. Kishan Reddy said that nine districts of Telangana including Adilabad, Karimnagar and Suryapet, had been included among 347 districts in the action plan to provide necessary healthcare and nutritious food to TB patients for 100 days to eliminate TB.

Announcing that he will adopt some TB patients, the minister informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had launched a TB eradication programme of Rs 22,000 crore, had adopted a few TB patients and encouraged the public to come forward to do so. The programme is named “Nikshaya Mitrulu” (friends to remove TB).
Noting that awareness about the disease has improved in recent years, Kishan Reddy said the TB eradication programme had earlier focused on preventing the spread of disease, but now the focus has shifted to its eradication, like polio. He also stated s that the government has increased monthly financial assistance to TB patients from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 under the “No-Kshaya Poshan Scheme” to provide the patients with nutritious food during treatment.
