Kishan Reddy Slams Revanth’s ‘Hybrid’ Delimitation Ploy As Global Nonsense

You've flip-flopped from population-based delimitation to championing GSDP.

Hyderabad: Union coal and mines minister G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday strongly rebutted Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's proposal for a "hybrid formula" on constituency delimitation — 50 per cent based on population and 50 per cent on economic performance indices — stating that no such model exists anywhere in the world.

Noting that reservations typically favour those from economically and socially backward backgrounds, not high performers, Kishan Reddy challenged Revanth Reddy by asking: Can he justify slashing seats in Adilabad while boosting them in Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad, districts that generate 70 per cent of the state's revenue?

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Kishan Reddy urged Revanth Reddy not to mislead the public with baseless theories. "If you have the guts, back delimitation — or stay silent. You've flip-flopped from population-based delimitation to championing GSDP. This is classic Congress tactics, stirring issues to sow confusion. Sensitive matters like this delimitation need solutions, not politics," he said.

The Union minister said Revanth Reddy must drop the illogical debate and support the smooth passage of the delimitation Bill. “Whoever wins more seats or becomes an MP will be decided by the people. Increasing seats by 50 per cent equally across all states is a wise move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.

Lashing out further by calling Revanth Reddy, the Congress party's new "treasurer", Kishan Reddy mocked the party's leadership. “If Rahul Gandhi is an intellectual, Revanth Reddy is now the super-intellectual. The Congress has a history of turning tall leaders into peons, attendants, and servants. When Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited Delhi, he was denied an appointment for three days,” Kishan Reddy alleged.

On Revanth Reddy's North vs. South rhetoric, Kishan Reddy countered: “Why did Rahul Gandhi ditch Uttar Pradesh to become an MP from Kerala? Why was Abhishek Singhvi accommodated in the Rajya Sabha from Telangana? Can Revanth Reddy answer?”

The Union minister emphasised, "We are all Indians."

“The BJP has elevated southern leaders to the Rajya Sabha from the North. The Modi government has given key Cabinet berths to Telangana in particular and the South in general, including two vice presidents from the South in the last 11 years. However, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi humiliated our then-chief minister Anjaiah at the airport — a fact that Revanth Reddy must remember,” he said.
