KLIS judicial probe to resume next week

Hyderabad: The judicial probe by Justice P.C. Ghose Commission into partial sinking of the Medigadda barrage and damage to Annaram, and Sundilla barrages on the Godavari river, part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), is expected to resume next week.

Ghose is expected to summon special chief secretary, finance K. Ramakrishna Rao. BRS leader T. Harish Rao, who was the irrigation minister in BRS' first term, held the finance portfolio in his second term, and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who also held the irrigation portfolio during the BRS' second term.

BJP MP Etala Rajendar, who was the finance minister in BRS' second term before quitting the party, is also likely to be questioned.

The state government gave a two-month extension to the commission till February 28, 2025, to submit its report to the government.

The commission is inquiring into allegations of irregularities in construction of Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages.

Justice Ghose called a number of witnesses for cross examination. There was some delay in the receipt of a report from the vigilance and the Enforcement Directorate which too investigated into various aspects, the government subsequently extended the commission's term.
