Kondagattu temple authorities propose 100-room dormitory
Hyderabad: The eagerly awaited master plan to carry out developmental works of the famed Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple may take some more time. Even so, the temple authorities are hopeful of getting funds to construct a 100-room dormitory to meet the growing turnout of devotees.
The stand of the government is that it will develop the 500-year-old hill shrine on par with the Yadadri temple, which, according to folklore was constructed about 300 years ago by a cowherd.
Though the master plan is not yet ready, there are proposals to construct a huge `prakaram’ around the temple, Rajagopuram on all four sides, a dormitory, VIP guest houses, residential quarters complex for priests, deeksha viramana mandapam and a staircase.
Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam said that the state government was ready to release funds in a phased manner to carry out the developmental works once the revised master plan was ready. Meanwhile, the temple is expecting funds from TTD and the tourism department for constructing a dormitory.
MLA Satyam pointed out that developmental works were completely ignored by the BRS government. This was despite numerous visits to the temple and promises to develop it by the then chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
The temple’s Stanacharyudu, Kapinder, said that they were expecting release of funds from TTD, once the board is constituted.
AP Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who made three visits to the temple, had said that funds from the TTD would be sanction for construction of a 100-room dormitory, he said.
The temple gets `22 crore in annual revenue, mainly through offerings in the hundi. The temple gets a heavy rush during the Ugadi festival, the Sravan month and Sammakka Saralamma Jatara.
Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay had said earlier that Union culture minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat had responded positively for development of Kondagattu and Vemulawada temples in cooperation with the state government.
