KTR Appears Before ED in Formula E Race Case
Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday in connection with the Formula E Race case. KTR was originally scheduled to appear before the agency on January 7, but after requesting a delay, ED officials issued a new notice for his appearance on January 16.
While the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is investigating the case, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also registered an enforcement case information report (ECIR) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against KTR and others in the case. The ED filed the ECIR after the Telangana ACB registered a First Information Report (FIR) against KTR and others in the Formula-E funding case.
The Telangana High Court had quashed KTR's petition to dismiss the FIR filed against him by the ACB.
Furthermore, the Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to intervene in the FIR filed by the ACB, which accused KTR of misconduct in the misappropriation of funds for the organization of Formula E races in Hyderabad. The Supreme Court clarified at the beginning of the hearing that it was not inclined to intervene in the dismissal orders issued by the Telangana High Court. In response, KTR's counsel chose to withdraw the petition, reserving the right to approach the apex court at a later time if necessary.
