KTR, Harish Rao indulging in meaningless criticism: Bhatti

Khammam: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Monday reprimanded the Opposition parties for indulging in senseless criticism against the people’s government through social media channels. The Opposition parties were scared to meet people as they fear people will confront them for their wrongdoings and consequences.

BRS MLAs KT Rama Rao (KTR) and T Harish Rao were literally hanging on by Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp forwards for their political survival and indulging in meaningless criticism, Bhatti said in a sharp criticism.

Addressing a media conference at Khammam on Monday, he thanked the high alertness of the State government, the unexpected natural calamity could be tackled without loss of life in the State.

Earlier Bhatti along with Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao participated in a programme to mark the death anniversary of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at the District Congress Party Office and paid rich tributes to him.

Observing that the Opposition has no work, he said it is better for people to ignore their meaningless criticism. The Congress leaders unlike the previous BRS leaders were not wasting time in “Gadis” (huge bungalows) and they were standing amidst people and carrying out relief measures.

Right from the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to MLA, everyone was with people in the wake of heavy rains, supervising rescue and relief measures minute to minute. That was why the major calamity could be overcome, he said.

Under the previous BRS rule, small rain was enough to inundate twin cities but now Hyderabad was safe even after heavy downpour due to the constitution of HYDRAA.

The HYDRA that was removing encroachments in tanks and taking measures for protection of tanks was ready to face the present disaster and already pressed rescue teams into action. It is ready to face any eventuality, he said.

Commending the exemplary work being put by the electricity department staff, Bhatti said it was strange that the Opposition did not notice the dedication of electricity department staff who were carrying out repair works on a war footing in the field in spite of heavy rains and gales.

He appreciated the officers and staff of the electricity department for going beyond the call of duty. Bhatti said that government was supplying essential commodities immediately to all those displaced due to floods caused by heavy rains.

The government made food arrangements to those shifted to relief centres and was also providing medical service. Once the floods receded, the government will get the loss and damage due to floods estimated and help the affected people.

The medical and health department initiated steps to prevent the outbreak of seasonal diseases. Compared to other areas, due to flooding in Munneru in Khammam, some damage has occurred. But people need not worry as the government will stand by them and extend support to those affected by floods, he added.
