KTR Questions Congress Over Decline in Agricultural Land in Telangana
Hyderabad: The BRS on Tuesday demanded an explanation from the state government over the reported fall in land under agriculture this year in Telangana. Party working president and Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao put the shortfall at 15.30 lakh acres.
“The reduction in agriculture operations happened in the last eight months of the Congress government, and this is a warning bell on how the agriculture sector is being pushed into a serious crisis,” Rama Rao said.
The Congress government had no plans to ensure irrigation and use existing projects to fill reservoirs and tanks, and there had been no word on Rythu Bharosa and Rs 500 bonus per quintal for crops. He said farmers are having to spend sleepless nights outside banks for crop loans and stand in lines for seeds and fertilisers.
