KTR Slams Revanth, Faces Police Case From Cong
Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday slammed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy calling him a ‘Cheap Minister’ and for using “filthy language” in front of school children to criticise the BRS, and its leaders over the issue of installing a statue of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi opposite the Secretariat.
Rama Rao was reacting to Revanth Reddy’s comments on how those who touch the statue will be slapped with chappals, and his targeting former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao before an audience that comprised schoolchildren.
However, the BRS working president’s reaction to the Chief Minister’s comments resulted in a complaint being filed with the police against Rama Rao by Congress’ Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, who in his complaint, said that Rama Rao’s tweet was highly defamatory amounting to damaging the reputation of the Chief Minister.
Yadav said Rama Rao defamed the Chief Minister by deliberately using the words ‘Cheap Minister’ and describing him as ‘Delhi Ghulam’.
“KTR’s statement was not only damaging the Chief Minister’s reputation but also the reputation of the entire Telangana. I request you to kindly register a criminal case against KTR in the interest of justice,” Yadav said in his complaint to the police.
He said the Chief Minister was working hard for the welfare of the state of Telangana and trying to bring foreign investors to invest thousands of crores of rupees in Hyderabad and Telangana.
Rama Rao in a post on X doubled down on his previous comments that the BRS, once back in power, will remove the statue and replace it with one of Telangana Talli. Rama Rao said “mark my words Cheap Minister Revanth, we will clear out the trash from the surroundings of Dr BR Ambedkar Secretariat the very same day we are back in office.”
Rama Rao, who on Monday first questioned Rajiv Gandhi’s contribution to Telangana, continued: “Can’t expect a Delhi Ghulam like you to ever understand self-respect & pride of Telangana. Using filthy language in front of schoolchildren shows your lousy thinking & uncouth upbringing. Wish you speedy healing from your mental sickness.”
The complaint to the police from Anil Kumar Yadav, was followed later in the evening by a complaint filed with the Panjagutta police by BRS leaders Dr Sravan Dasoju, Balka Suman, and others seeking action against the Chief Minister for his “unparliamentary” language and “delusional” comments targeting former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, which they said, were designed to incite violence against the BRS leaders and workers.
