KTR’s Battle With Revanth on AMRUT Taken to Delhi
Hyderabad: The BRS on Monday filed a complaint with the Union minister for housing and urban affairs, M.L. Khattar, alleging corruption and favouritism in the award of AMRUT 2.0 contracts in Telangana. They claimed that a contract was improperly granted to Shodha Infrastructure Limited, a company owned by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s brother-in-law, Soodhini Srujan Reddy, and urged Khattar to investigate the matter.
K.T. Rama Rao, the BRS working president, led a delegation to New Delhi to meet with Khattar and submitted a detailed four-page letter requesting an inquiry into the contract’s allotment.
Rama Rao informed Khattar that the Revanth Reddy government awarded a contract worth Rs 1,137 crore to Shodha Infrastructure Limited. He alleged that the Congress-led administration coerced the Indian Hume Pipe Company into a partnership with Shodha, giving Shodha 80 per cent of the work while Hume received only 20 per cent.
According to a BRS press release, Rama Rao argued that the contract award violated the Office of Profit Act and the Prevention of Corruption Act. “Not just the Rs 1,137 crore contract given to Shodha and Hume, but the entire Rs 8,888 crore AMRUT works in Telangana need to be investigated,” he stated.
Rama Rao questioned how Shodha, a company with only Rs 2.2 crore in profits the previous year, was awarded the contract, suggesting that the deal was influenced by its ownership by the Chief Minister’s brother-in-law. He cited other instances where the Office of Profit Act’s provisions were violated, urging Khattar to conduct a transparent investigation into the awarding of AMRUT 2.0 contracts in Telangana.
