KTR Warns of Students Stir Over Fee Scheme
Rama Rao demanded the immediate withdrawal of Government Order (GO 7), which alters the reimbursement policy for the 2026–27 academic year, and called upon Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to issue a public apology to students.

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has accused the state government of attempting to dismantle the fee reimbursement scheme. He argued that the scheme, introduced by the YSR government and strengthened by then-Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, remained a crucial support system enabling access to higher education for economically weaker sections.
Rama Rao demanded the immediate withdrawal of Government Order (GO 7), which alters the reimbursement policy for the 2026–27 academic year, and called upon Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to issue a public apology to students. Warning of statewide protests, he said BRS would not remain a silent spectator if the government undermines the future of students. “If the student community is forced to take to the streets, the government will be held accountable for the consequences,” he cautioned.
In a letter to Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao described GO 7 as a “dark and deliberate attempt” to dismantle the scheme, terming it “grave injustice” to nearly 14 lakh students, particularly from underprivileged communities. He highlighted that the government has failed to clear dues of nearly ₹10,000 crore over the past two‑and‑a‑half years, severely impacting over 2,500 educational institutions. Colleges, he noted, are struggling to function, while students face difficulties in accessing certificates and continuing their education.
