Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy warned that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao will land in jail soon for his “conspiracies” against the Congress government.
Addressing a public meeting in Vemulawada on Wednesday, he said that Rama Rao’s efforts in Delhi to involve various Central commissions and agencies over the Lagcharla land acquisition issue were exercises in futility and vowed accountability.
“Rama Rao can lodge complaints in Delhi or even on the moon, but he cannot escape jail for his conspiracies,” Revanth Reddy declared. He accused Rao of orchestrating attacks on officials in Vikarabad under the pretext protests by disgruntled farmers.
“No matter where he goes, he will have to face the consequences. He is like a swing that may oscillate but will eventually stop in the middle. He has to come back and face the consequences,” he added.
The Chief Minister challenged BRS chief and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to a debate in the Assembly, comparing the performance of the Congress government over the past 10 months with the 10-year rule of the BRS.
Revanth Reddy highlighted his government’s developmental efforts, including industrial projects in Kodangal, to create jobs for local youth and acquisition of 1,100 acres, emphasising that these were non-agricultural lands.
He promised to resolve issues of Mid Manair dam flood victims and assured completion of the Kalikota Suramma project.
“Projects initiated during the previous regime will be completed by us,” he said, directing minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to review all pending works by November 30.
The Chief Minister criticised his predecessor for spending Rs 20 lakh crore over a decade without allocating Rs 100 crore to develop Vemulawada temple.
He outlined his government’s achievements, claiming to have created 50,000 jobs in 10 months, contrasting it with what he termed the BRS government’s lacklustre record in job creation over 10 years.
“If my statistics are wrong, I’m ready to apologise publicly,” he said.
He announced plans to establish a Gulf Board to support migrant workers and provide Rs five lakh accident insurance for Gulf workers, who die abroad.
Paying homage to former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and saluting Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, he recalled the party’s sacrifices for Telangana statehood. He criticised the BJP for neglecting Karimnagar’s development after winning elections and questioned their failure to secure funds for irrigation projects.
Highlighting agricultural achievements, he expressed delight at record paddy harvest of 1.53 crore metric tonnes in 66 lakh acres, achieved without utilising water from Kaleshwaram project.
