Hyderabad: In a tweet that has sparked a fresh political debate, Telangana former IT Minister and BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) criticized the state's decline in the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) rankings, attributing it to the inefficiency of the Congress-led government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. KTR highlighted Telangana’s previous top-tier performance during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) regime, expressing disappointment that the state had now failed to secure a place in the latest EoDB reformers' rankings.
However, the fact is that the rankings KTR referred to are based on the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) for 2022, when the BRS was in power, leading to allegations that his tweet was misleading. Observers argue that blaming the current Congress administration for the rankings ignores the timeline of the reforms on which the report was based. "The Congress government should hang its head in shame that a top-performing state like Telangana is now a worst performer."
