Lack of public urinals irk people on Sunday show
Hyderabad:The Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu celebrations at Tank Bund drew massive crowds on Monday, but visitors who wanted to use the washroom in the cold winter weather had few facilities. Only two mobile public washrooms were available to cater to thousands of attendees, both located in the middle of Tank Bund Road, while the event was happening at the Secretariat.
Moreover, the washrooms were poorly maintained, which many described as "unsanitary” and “unusable." Queues formed at the limited urinals, leaving several individuals, particularly women, in distress.
"Such large-scale events demand better planning. How can two washrooms serve a crowd of this size? The authorities should have set up more portable toilets," said Srinivas Reddy, a resident of Secunderabad’s Bolaram.
“On this stretch of NTR Marg, there was a washroom with the name ‘Loo Café', but that was closed today. There are two buses with ‘Mobile Toilets’ written on them, but they are in pathetic condition and we could not use them,” said P. Himesh.
Many people expressed similar sentiments, with some even arguing with the washroom managers about the condition. They urged the government to prioritise basic public amenities during gatherings.
