Lagacherla Case: HC Issues Notice to Police on Bail Pleas by Farmers
Hyderabad: Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Thursday issued notices to the state of Telangana, represented by its public prosecutor and police including the station house officer of Bomraspet police station to file their counter in a criminal petition filed by 12 farmers and farmhands seeking anticipatory bail in Lagacherla incident.
Devidas Pawar Nayak and a few others are accused in FIR No. 153 of 2024, registered on November 11, 2024, for their alleged involvement in a violent attack on officials during a public hearing in Lagacherla on land acquisition for a pharma cluster.
The petitioners submitted to the court that the police have registered cases against all who attended the meeting and now they are being called to the police station on the plea of investigation. The court adjourned the matter to January 9 for submissions on behalf of police.
