Land dispute leads to attack on BRS mayor’s husband
Nizamabad:Nizamabad mayor Neethu Kiran’s husband and BRS leader Dandu Chandrasekhar was injured in an attack by an autorickshaw driver here on
Monday over a land dispute. Chandrasekhar was admitted to a private hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
Sources said, Sheik Rasool, the driver, attacked Chandrasekhar near 80 Quarters in Nagaram. Rasool said his plot in Nagaram area was encroached on by the followers of the mayor.
The accused first beat up Chandrashekar and later attacked him with a hammer. Passersby filmed the incident and posted it on social media.
After the attack, Rasool released a video clip, saying Chandrasekhar had demanded `2 lakh from him to settle the land dispute.
“Being an auto driver, I am unable to pay the huge amount and attacked Chandrasekhar in frustration,” he said. He urged Congress leaders to protect his land from BRS leaders.
Nizamabad ACP L.Raja Venkat Reddy said that Rasool was arrested and sent to judicial remand. His cellphone, his autorickshaw and the hammer that he used for the attack were seized, the ACP said.
Chandrasekhar had been recently detained by Nizamabad commissionerate police for his alleged involvement in smuggling of gravel in Nagaram area.
BRS MLA V. Prashanth Reddy and former Nizamabad Urban BRS MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta visited Chandrasekhar in the hospital.
